Jerome Godboo's been tearing up stages in Toronto for 30 years now. He's left a lasting impression on the psyche of his fans who will enthusiastically tell you of their “Godboo experience”. The local legend of explosive ‘90s rock band the Phantoms, Jerome’s bending harp skills continue to mesmerize all who witness him onstage, including the judges at the International Blues Challenge 2014 in Memphis where he took home the Best Harmonica Player Award. His talents have been sought by the likes of Ronnie Hawkins, Prince (who asked Jerome to join his band!) and Jeff Healey, who covers two of Jerome’s songs on his latest (posthumous) release.
This is the 15th album of Jerome’s prolific outpouring of soul. And though his daily practice of Vipassana meditation grounds and soothes him, he springs to life with an other-worldly energy as he performs on stages mostly in Quebec and Ontario.
“Jerome Godboo is a grinning gap toothed Jim Morrison type who commands a harmonica the way Jimi Hendrix once commanded a guitar” – The Globe & Mail
Eric Schenkman is a founding member of one of the ‘90s biggest bands, The Spin Doctors, who’s Grammy-nominated album “Pocket Full of Kryptonite” went 5X platinum, followed by the platinum album “Turn It Upside Down”.
Eric has a rock star vibe with the heart and soul of a fan. He’s played with a lot of musicians he grew up listening to- Carly Simon, Roger Daltrey, Noel Redding and Jack Bruce to name but a few- which “has helped me to identify my own voice on the electric guitar, though I am still a student of the instrument and all its imagery….”
Eric might still be found playing lead guitar with the Spin Doctors- most recently at 25th anniversary shows of “Kryptonite”- when he’s not busy with his current band project “Openhearts Society”, writing and arranging for commercials, movies and television, or ripping it up with Godboogie.
“Eric is…busy as a one legged pole-dancer.” – Cashbox Canada
Shawn Kellerman is recognized as one of the most powerful stage performers out there, putting every ounce of mental and physical energy into his music. Expressive, dynamic and technically outstanding, Shawn continues to build on his past experiences and push the boundaries of traditional blues into modern territory by adding in soul, funk and rock influences. Shawn started his musical career as a teenager and has been on the road playing major festivals in 41 different countries.
He has been nominated for the Maple Blues Award’s “Guitar Player of the Year” and he also recorded and performed on Bobby Rush’s Cd “Raw” which won “Best Acoustic CD of the Year” at The Blues Music Award in Memphis.
Since 2012 he has been touring in The Lucky Peterson Band full time, helping to mix/produce his albums as well as Godboogie’s new release. Shawn and Jerome have been musical brothers for over 10 years, which has helped to develop the sound of this exciting new band.
“Shawn…hit the stage smoking with energy and left it dripping in sweat”. -Blues on Stage
Gary Craig may be based in Toronto, but good luck trying to find him there. Chances are, he’s on the road recording and performing with the likes of Anne Murray, Tom Cochrane, The Rankin Family, Jann Arden, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, Marc Jordan, John McDermott, Kathleen Edwards or Gregory Hoskins. Playing and working hard, picking and choosing who he wants to work with. “I’ve been drumming for a long time, but I haven’t been a drum school kind of guy. I’ve been a guy who’s worked with songwriters for years…I think it has changed me forever.”
More recently, Gary has been recording in Nashville with Juno award winning producer Steve Dawson, touring with Bruce Cockburn and accompanying the stars of the ABC network television series Nashville. All in a day’s work for the backbone who keeps the wildmen of Godboogie on the straight and narrow.
